Softball Newspaper Write-Ups

The Granite State Gamers 16U Green Team won the Caroline Farley Memorial Tournament making this the first 16U Championship for the organization. The Gamers went 6-0 on the weekend with outstanding offensive and defensive contributions from all teammates. As a team, the Gamers recorded a .408 batting average, 34 RBI’s, and an ERA of 0.203. Brooke Bogacz (Tyngsboro, MA), Samantha Harris (Londonderry), Katherine Paul (Milford), Cassandra Page (Nashua), Lindsey Lord (Goffstown), and Gia Cataldo (Litchfield), all batted above .400 on the weekend driving in a combined 27 runs. Cataldo led the team with ten hits, Harris hit two incredible home runs, and Page had seven doubles out of her eight hits. Bogacz, Erin Frost (Litchfield), and Olivia Martinage (Litchfield), were aces on the mound. Combined, the girls pitched 38 innings giving up only 26 hits and 16 runs. This tournament victory would not have been possible without the outstanding effort, hustle, and encouragement of all the players, making this a true team effort.

The Granite State Gamers 14U Green swung big this past weekend while competing in the 2013 New Hampshire State Tournament. The Gamers finished in the Top 4 and made tremendous strides playing together as a team. Aly Pascucci (Litchfield, NH) led the team offensively putting up outstanding numbers going 17 for 23 at the plate (0.739 BA). Anna Maggio (Londonderry, NH) tied the game with a tremendous home run and Sarah Hobbs (Litchfield, NH) finished the game in walk off fashion with a single that drove in the winning runs on Saturday night. Defensively, Pascucci recorded her first win of the summer on the mound and Hannah Cote (Litchfield, NH) pitched a total of 24 innings facing 121 batters while striking out 29 and only giving up 33 hits earning an era of 0.272. Kylie Carlson (Litchfield, NH) caught 30 innings of close to perfect plate coverage, striving to help the success of the pitching staff. Every inning was truly a team effort. Each player contributed their best to the weekend with a team batting average of 0.459, scoring 72 runs with outstanding defensive plays. The Granite State Gamers 14U Green will play next in Lowell, MA at the 14U All American Tournament.

The Granite State Gamers 16U Green team participated in the New Hampshire State Tournament this past weekend. The Gamers offense was led by Katherine Paul (Milford, NH) who went 5-8 on the day recording a 0.625 batting average. Samantha Harris (Londonderry, NH), Gia Cataldo (Litchfield, NH), and Amber Gibbons (Litchfield, NH) all went 4-9 and had a combined 6 rbi’s. Brooke Bogacz (Tyngsborough, MA) led the defense with two strong outings on the mound recording 14 strikeouts, 8 hits, and 4 runs in only 10 innings of work. In game one, clutch hitting led the Gamers to a 14-1 win in only 3.1 innings of play recording 15 hits in 25 chances giving them a .600 batting average. The Granite State Gamers 16U Green team will continue play in two weeks at the Elite Northern Exposure Showcase in New Haven, CT.
